!KL-chan got banned. Got banned indefinitely.

What does deviantART consider to be Art Theft?
Copyright Infringement (aka "Art Theft" or "Ripping")
Current deviantART policy defines 'Art Theft' to be any situation where a user takes the original art, photography, or writing of another person (a 'third party' and then either misrepresents the original, unaltered work as one of their own creations or includes the work (either altered or unaltered) in a new image.

Generally speaking any submission which is directly built upon the existing work of another artist or photographer can be considered to be a case of art theft. These works may feature screenshots, official artwork or sprites taken from a video game, scans from an art book, artwork found on a website somewhere on the internet or a photograph of a famous person (just to name a few examples), but in every case the 'seed image' is the legal property of another artist. In many cases these 'seed images' are manipulated, colored over, blended with other images, and otherwise digitally worked over but none of this makes the use acceptable or allowed.

These submissions will be removed regardless of whether you have credited or linked back to the original source. Knowing where you ‘found’ the original image or knowing who created it or took the photo is not the same as actually having the legal permission to use it in your submission.

Only valid, legal, stock resources are allowed to be used as part of your deviantART submission. Public Domain imagery may also be used but only if you can provide proof that the copyright has lapsed on the imagery.

The only thing I can think of why she got banned because she had a manipulated image of Tobey Maguire + James Franco on her webcam. She didn't summit the damn thing and she was going to change it.

Honestly I didn't know photo-manip was art theft o.o; If you submit it yeah, I don't agree but for webcam, I didn't know you can get a ban. We sent a Ban Inquiry because there's no way I want her gone. They should of suspended her, not a full ban! She had it on a webcam!!!

Maybe a warning?? A suspension for weeks, months!?

*edit* I'm pretty sure it's about the webcam. She has nothing but her artworks (original and fanarts) on her page. If she has anything South Park drawn (like the actual characters, not anime style) it's 100% she didn't manip the image, she drew it herself.

*edit2* Ok, some people have brought up the fact that someone could of reported her for art theft. Don't they need the site or evidence? Where's the evidence? Based on like, 1-3 pics that person might have stolen? If that's the case, that would be a very weak reason to ban KL. She has a very consistent style and has been here for 3 years. DA CAN'T be THAT stupid.. right?

*edit3* This is soley on speculations. We've sent an email to the admins and we're now wai6ting for a reply. KL just found out about this and she's pretty pissed. She thinks it could be art theft ... but the reason I said webcam is because DA CAN'T BE THAT STUPID. I REFUSE TO BELIEVE THEY WOULD BAN KL FOR ART THEFT.

*edit4* Yo sup, this is KL. Yeah, I got a message from the Help Desk claiming I got banned because pictures in my gallery were found in a Japanese art fan site. So... why the hell would they assume I'M the art thief? What, Japanese people can't steal art or something? If they had let me get the chance to prove to them I'm not the thief, this wouldn't of happened. But no, without proof whatsoever, they blame me. (WHY DON'T I SHOW YOU SOME DAMN PSD FILES, DA?) Also, did they have to reduce all my pictures faves to 1? What's the point of that? Now I have no faves =/

Banning KL without asking HER FOR THE DAMN PROOF. If my memory serves me correctly... SHE HAS THE FREE SKETCH MEME IN HER RECENT JOURNAL. SHE CAN SKETCH ANY OF YOUR REQUESTS IN A CONSISTENT STYLE. And what's weird is the DA Help Desk reply mysteriously deleted itself when Kl-chan checked again. I dunno, do msgs delete itself? I don't care if this is a mistake or whatever, this is unacceptable. I will NEED TO SEE THE JAPANESE SITE. I WILL NEED TO SEE PROOF FROM THEIR DAMN SIDE. Oh yeah, you want proof!? I CAN SHOW YOU KL'S ENTIRE FOLDER OF PSDS FOR HER GALLERY. KL-chan has been here for a long time. Do your damn research. SEND A NOTE. Other art theives got their deviations deleted. WHY A BAN FOR HER. Don't bring up my hatred for you DA admins again. I still remember my most faved piece was Chrono Cross and it got deleted because *edit* copyright violations. And right after when my Naruto pic got the highest fav, it got deleted as well. When I complained because it was filed under *edit again, sorry I found the notes* copyright violations AGAIN (70% of the art here are fanarts you dumbasses), that person was like "Oh! Oops, sorry! ^_^"

Anyway, KL-chan will not leave. SHE WILL GET UN-BANNED.
NO MATTER WHAT. IT IS THEIR FAULT, NOT HERS. We will do everything we can because she's not running away from something she didn't do! Thanks to all of your support as well! YOU WILL SEE KL-CHAN POSTING AGAIN. There will be an apology and she will be unbanned. If this won't happen... I dunno, I will need to see pigs fly to believe that. It needs to happen.
